Linkpay – The Modern Alternative to PayByMail

Linkpay is Unzer's future-proof payment solution that allows you to process payments easily via payment link (Paylink). Linkpay offers a modern checkout experience, additional payment methods, and a customisable payment page in your brand's look and feel.

What is Linkpay?

With Linkpay, you create Paylinks for orders. These payment links take your customers to an Unzer-hosted checkout page where the payment can be completed securely and conveniently.

Paylinks can be used flexibly and sent via email, SMS, or messenger, for example.

Typical use cases:

• Payment processing without your own checkout
• Invoices or quotes by email
• Phone or manual orders
• A supplement to your existing online shop
• Payments for services, back orders, or individual amounts

PayByMail is being discontinued

⚠️ Important notice for existing customers

From 1 July 2026, no new PayByMail links can be created.To continue offering payments via payment link, switching to Linkpay is required.

? We recommend setting up Linkpay early and making the switch to avoid any interruptions to your payment process.

How Linkpay works in practice

1. Create a Paylink

Create a new Paylink in Unzer Insights, including the amount, currency, and customer details.

2. Select payment methods 

Define which payment methods are offered to your customers on the checkout page.

3. Send the Paylink

Send the payment link by email, SMS, or via your preferred communication channel.

4. Let customers complete payment

Your customers pay via the secure, Unzer-hosted payment page.

5. Track the status

The payment status is updated automatically and can be retrieved in Unzer Insights at any time.
