How to Regenerate Backup Codes

In this article, you can find how to regenerate:
Your own backup codes
Note: 2FA/backup codes can only be reset for a user who is active (i.e. has once set up password and 2FA)Step 1: Go to your user profile and click on your profile in the top right corner.

Step 2: Request new backup codes
Click Get Backup Codes.

Step 3: Verify with your 2FA code
Enter your 2FA code to confirm the action.

Step 4: Download your backup codes
Save your new backup codes in a secure place, then click Continue.

Step 5: Setup complete. Your new backup codes are now active.
Another user's backup codes
For the administrator
Step 1: Navigate to the user.
Go to Settings → Users and open the relevant user.
Step 2: Initiate the regeneration.
Click Backup Code → Regenerate.

Step 3: Click Regenerate to confirm.

Step 4: Verify with your 2FA code
As this is a sensitive action, you will be asked to enter your own 2FA code to proceed.

Step 5: Regeneration complete. The user's existing backup codes are now invalidated. The user will receive an email with a link to download their new backup codes.

For the user
Step 1: Check your inbox. You will receive an email with a link to download your new backup codes. Click the link to get started.
Step 2: Click Continue. You will be taken to the backup codes page.

Step 3: Download your new backup codes
Save your new backup codes in a secure place, then click Continue.

Step 4: Setup complete. Your new backup codes are now active.
